Transportation options and local activities for attendees visiting Edmonton for BioRob 2026.

Transportation

Airport Transportation

The Edmonton Airport (YEG) is located to the south of Edmonton. For information regarding the airport, please refer to the airport’s website.

Below are recommended transit options:

  • Rideshare: Uber and Lyft are supported in Edmonton
  • Taxi: Taxis are available for hire at the airport.
  • Hotel shuttle: Attendees are encouraged to check with their hotel for an airport shuttle.
  • Bus and Light Rail Train (LRT): Attendees can take the 747 bus from YEG to the Century Park Transit Centre. They will then need to transfer to the LRT Capital Line to Central Station (for the Convention Centre, other stations might be better depending on the location of your accommodations).

Getting Around Edmonton

  • Bus and the LRT (light rail train): As part of a partnership with the City of Edmonton, the conference and Explore Edmonton offer conference delegates Edmonton Transit Passes, free of charge, for the duration of the conference.
    You can get to the Edmonton Convention Centre by LRT through Central station.

  • Bike and e-scooter rentals: The shared micromobility program has e-scooter and e-bike rentals available through Bird Canada, Lime, and Neuron.

Parking

If you are traveling to the conference venue by car, parking is available in nearby surface lots, parkades, and underground parking options near the venue. However, these options may be costly. See the Edmonton Convention Centre website for more information.

Activities in and Around Edmonton

  • Explore Edmonton: Local resource for festivals and events in the city
  • Edmonton Heritage Festival: The world’s largest three day celebration of multiculturalism will be held the weekend of the conference (Aug 1-3). The festival showcases a diversity of cuisine, entertainment, interpretive materials, and crafts worldwide. There are no admission fees to enter or to watch the many cultural dances and folk music shows throughout the day. Attendees will be able to purchase various foods made by the pavilions.
  • Attractions accessible by transit: The Promenade (Edmonton Funicular), Muttart Conservatory, Royal Alberta Museum, Art Gallery of Alberta, Neon Sign Museum, West Edmonton Mall (includes a waterpark, themepark, mini-golf, among other activities), Telus World of Science, Whyte Avenue, ICE District, Fort Edmonton Park
  • Attractions accessible by car: University of Alberta Botanic Garden, Elk Island National Park (bring bug spray), Banff National Park, Jasper National Park
